Inzy the warrior

Bismillah irahman nirahim , sabse pehle allah ka shukar !!
yeeeeaa is Inzy is a greats warrior.. is fighters.. is one of the best pakisthaan has produces !!

Inzamam-ul-Haq, the Sultan of Multan, plays shots all round the wicket and is strong off his pads, unleashes ferocious pulls and lofted drives. Early on he is vulnerable playing across his front pad or poking outside off stump. He uses his feet well to the spinners, although this aggression can be his undoing.( ref: his last innings).. Inzi keeps a cool head in a crisis and has succeeded Javed Miandad as Pakistan's premier batsman, but his hapless running between wickets is legendary and most dangerous for his partners.

He can be termed the silent giant of cricket.. So unassumingly slow and lathargic on the field, little does the opposition realize or feel the pace at which this grizzly bear scores.. He has scored well over 10000 runs in ODI and missed the chance of becoming the leading run scorer for PAK thanks to a rush of adrenaline leading to a silly stroke...

Inzy was one of those street cricketers in the Gallis of Multan, spotted by a great Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan. He did a Nostradamus by predicting that this bright young lad of 17 would one day strike Gold and become one of the best batsman of all time!
I think Inzamam is as talented as Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar but little does he realise his true talent-- Imran Khan

Inducted into Pakistan colours in 1991 through ODI format and made his debut in tests in 92.. 1992 world cup was a big turning point in his career, early in his career as it was, slimmer and fitter made some important contributions in the WC helping Pakistan lift the world cup under Imran Khan.. He has a whopping 83 half centuries in ODI, 2nd to score 10000 runs.. He retired scoring 11739 runs in ODI... Test match performances weren't that poor either... One of the very few to score a century in each innings of a game and to score a century in his 100th test... Fell agonizingly short of Miandad's record and a test average of 50 !!

Inzy after being dropped was picked for the series against SA, as a farewell series.. Needing 20 runs to surpass Miandad, was out for 14 in the 1st innings.. In the 2nd innings, scored 3 and then attempted to hoist Paul Harris over Long on for a six to achieve the feat in glory, only to miss the ball and get stumped... Out for 3 !!!
Every one of his knocks was a true Gem of its Own! Each one would be studded with his trademark square cutes, the fierce pulls, the dance down the track sixes, the odd risky single now and then, and of course the comical running between the wickets. He is on his day, the best batsman in the Pakistani team.

The reason he took more matches to score that many runs is simple: mostly he caused his own downfall. Suicidal run outs, disastrous strokes; laziness and lapse of concentration were the main reasons for him getting out more rather than the bowler bowling a great ball. Self-destructive he was; had he been more careful in his approach, we certainly would have seen more blows from the willow of this cricketer.

Had his share of controversies
  1. v India at Toronto,1997 - assaulted a spectator. Banned for two one-day internationals, suspended ban of one further match.
  2. v Sri Lanka,2000 at Karachi - criticising the attitude of the Sri Lankan players. Received severe reprimand.
  3. v West Indies,2005 at Perth - for not controlling his players as captain. Fined 100 percent of match fee.
  4. v India, 2005 at Bangalore - charging or advancing towards the umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing. Banned for one Test match.
  5. v England - August 17-21, 2006 at the Oval - bringing the game into disrepute. Banned for four ODIs.
  6. WC2007 ended with the death of their coach Bob Woolmer, and Inzy was also summoned for inquiry..
The biggest being the last one.. On Pakistan's 2006 tour of England, Inzamam captained a team that refused to re-enter the field, after tea, at The Oval after allegations of ball tampering from umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove. The umpires awarded England five penalty runs and the choice of a replacement ball, after ruling that Pakistan had illegally tampered with the ball.. During the protest the umpires, having tried to persuade Inzamam to come out of the dressing room, decided that the match could not continue. Upon returning to the field with his team, later, found both the England team and the umpires absent... After further discussions between both teams, umpires and cricket board officials it was eventually agreed that the match could not be restarted. Thus, Inzamam became the first captain in history to forfeit a Test match. Inzamam was later charged with tampering with the ball and bringing the game into disrepute..

Funniest dismissal in cricket- Inzy

Dada's childhood

A post in some forum.. Pretty funny.. So sharing it here..

Saurav’s parents decided to have a Bengali tutor for him. His tutor would come in the evening, for the classes soon after Saurav returned from school. Young Saurav was very upset at this. Evening was the time for him to kick the football with his para (neighbourhood) friends, and no way was he going to study Bengali sacrificing football. But he was too scared to revolt, before his parents as well. After some hard thinking he came up with a strategy.

He went up to his tutor, and told:

“Sir, can I ask you something?”

“Yes, go on.”

“You seem too tired after your day’s work. Even I come exhausted from school. Why don’t both of us take some rest, before we commence with our studies,” Saurav suggested.

“Hmm, that’s not a bad idea. Its true we both get very tired, after day’s work”, his teacher observed thoughtfully.

“That’s great Sir. You rest at my room, while i shall go upstairs and take a nap. Then we can start afresh”

Gangulys were a joint family with a palace like mansion. So it was not possible for the family members to take much notice if someone quietly sneaks out of the house. Thus every evening Saurav would hit the football ground, while his parents thought that he was studying in his room.

The tie eliminator in T20
A tie is not a tie in Twenty20.

There is the concept of tiebreaker for Twenty20 internationals. The eliminator had been bowl out for quite some time... As the bowl out just involved bowlers from either side attempting to hit the wickets through their bowling, some considered this to be unfair...

In bowl out, each team nominates 5 bowlers who will bowl a ball each taking turns.. The team with the maximum number of hits to the wickets over the other team wins, and the points are awarded to that team.. If each team has hit the same number of wickets after the first five balls per side, the bowling continues and is decided by sudden death ( as soon as one team is ahead ).. First ever bowl-out was in NZ against WI in 2006 but it came to light when India beat a hapless Pakistan in it.. (World Cup, match went well into midnight)..

The "wise heads" then decided that this is unfair and just as the game involves both batsmen and bowlers the tie breaker also has to.. So, in July 2008 the Super Over, replaced the bowl-out as the official tool to decide tie breaker.. Ironically, NZ and WIN were the two teams involved in it with WIN winning it this time with some GAYLE power..

Both the teams get to play one over each after the match, and the team that wins that contest is the winner:so it's like having a One1 to resolve a Twenty20 tie.

Both sides have to nominate three batsmen and one bowler each for the eliminator. A team can be bowled out in the traditional sense, if it loses two wickets. The bowler and batsmen, once nominated, cannot be changed. The eliminator is played with the same fielding restrictions as those in place for a normal Twenty20 international. The team that batted second in the actual match bats first.

Now what if the teams are tied at the end of the super over as well?
In case of a second tie, the total number of sixes hit - in the main match and in the eliminator - becomes the tiebreaker. If the teams are still tied, the team that has hit the most boundaries - fours and sixes - in the eliminator is declared the winner. Don't ask what happens if its still a tie, I too do not know.. :-)

But why can't people take a tie as a tie and move ahead.. Super over too is not convincing enough... May be we will come up with "what is the par score in a One1 match ?" sooner rather than later... This concept is just like having a single final for a month long or a 2 month long tournaments..
Accepting a tie as a tie is the best solution...

Funny quotes during IPL-2009

Thats another DLFer.. Its supposed to be a six !!

That's a Citi moment of disaster.. - these two are from Robin Jackman..

He DLF-ed it with ease.. I remember discussing about this in class room.. Again Jackman.

Robin Jackman is referred to as "Jackass" by his fellow mates, and he is supposed to have said "how it would be if I call Mark Nicholas as knickers"...

LOL....

He has managed to clear the deep long-off... - What is DEEP LONG off ? Is it beyond the boundary ?

Two overs remaining. That's 12 balls, folks. - Great enlightenment..

That was a serious shot.. I think this was from Pommie Mbangwa! (correct me if I am wrong )...

Hello Cape Town, are you ready ?? - I think a recorded voice message of "oooooooooooooooooooooo" goes on after that...

The crowd has stayed back to watch the game.. - the camera unfortunately shows an empty stadium... Hardly a handful...

Buchanan, in his warped sense of humour, remarked that even in this (referring to water polo played in team hotel) game we couldn't win. Skipper, who's been seething in anger for the last couple of days, quickly retorted saying, "We're lucky you aren't the coach here 'coz then we'd have definitely lost".-- Fake IPL player..

I am waiting for a day when John Buchchanan blames global warming for our losses.. -- Fake IPL player on KKR's losses...

KKR the best team off the field.. JB snippets--

I am against the rule that allows only 4 foreign players in a team..

Removal of icon player status from the next year itself..

Today, Ramiz Raja - Ganguly will not run, he will only try to score boundaries and sixes-- Ganguly took 3 quick singles in that over...

Ganguly makes this commentator look so foolish (not IPL)
