Indian win- a look back

India have won the 4 match ODI series in Carribean 2-1 with the last one being washed away.. Wondering why such a series had to be played all of a sudden and its even more ridiculous to see WICB scheduling 2 matches to St.Lucia amidst such a weather.. If the 3rd ODI never got going in terms of cricket or intensity the 4th simply failed to get started too.. Absolutely absurd when there was Guyana, Barbados, Antigua to host the matches..

While a 2-1 series win against an average West Indies team might not be the best achievement in India’s cricketing history, the team showed spirit and the captain was stupendous.. Five successive ODI series wins and a hat-trick of ODI series wins abroad... Forget, the ICC World Twenty20 disaster, MSD’s  men in dark blue are still the men to beat..  Agreed, winning a series in the Carribean conditions is not easy but let us remember that barring a rain-marred match and another close win, there's nothing much ; the young team still has a long way to go..

I think the discussions on Viru's absence and its effects on Indian top order will be put to rest amongst the media personnel after this win, but it still seems the area of concern.. Dinesh Karthik played well and has set his best foot forward to cement his place in the side, the struggling Gauti has performed reasonably well but this is nothing to say that he is well and truly back in form.. The absence of players like Viru, Sachin, Dravid, Kumble will always be felt and one should not look back and find who fills who's shoes.. We should be happy if a replacement has performed well to his abilities..

Boycott had pointed out that bowling looks ordinary and every time Kumble came across to say it was the first series for Nehra.. In the bowling, Nehra did well.. Bhajji has become a bowler of T20s bowling the so called "DARTS"., spin, flight and guile missing.. RP did reasonably well.. Ishant has become a big disappointment these days, a KKR effect huh ? Bowls too short for the liking and Gayle toasted him.. Has to get back to basics and plant his foot on earth or soon he will land himself into the endless list of players who have had great beginning and then lost their careers.. Rest of them too ordinary..

MSD's back is the media cry.. But where did he go to come back.. He wasn't poor in the T20s either, yes his strike rate was unacceptable but he would have set it right if he had better luck.. His captaincy has never dipped, Read Indian debacle- a better analysis , supportive to my view that he hasn't dipped in form.. he has now merely added some more ammunition to his repertoire. Dhoni can now graft and can switch gears and attack. That makes him more lethal than he was two years back, doesn’t it? The way he played with RP Singh was a Steve Waugh like innings.. Aggression mixed with caution- a potent blend.. The new WALL of Indian middle order.. He has an imposing average of above 50, the 2nd player after Michael Bevan to have such a record.. ( Score of above 4000 runs)

MSD Yuvi- 10/10 ; Dinesh 8/10 ; Gauti- 6/10 ; Yusuf Pathan- 6/10; Rohit Sharma- 0/10 for batting.. Bhajji-6/10 ; Ishanth- 3/10; RP- 6/10 ; Nehra-8/10 for bowling..
