KKR vs DD match was one of the most bizarre matches I have seen till date... It had the potential of making even the best at counting lose track of the dropped catches and mis-fields.
KKR find themselves with most games under their belt and least points to show for it..While KKR players are certainly not the best fielders in the tournament, but certainly not the worst that this game has seen.. The Indian players were doing us proud on the field, overrunning the ball, slipping clumsily, throwing wild, dropping catches.. Ganguly was funny as usual...
The skipper himself grassed a sitter, mis fielded couple of times (being considerate).. Irrespective of nationality, caste, colour, creed, everyone in the team had dropped catches. The bowlers who bowled 3 good balls were so infuriated with the misfields that the last 2 balls used to go for a boundary. (more than a couple of occassions)..
You can sit back and analyse, spot the errors, drop the poor performers, change the team and try to improve the next game but if a team is destined to lose like KKR, little importance can be given to all these things.. A team hasn't been changed because they continue on a winning streak or that all have performed well-the general unwritten rule in cricket ; in KKR's case though nobody has performed well so who do you drop and who do you replace him with !!!!!!!!!!
The saddest part of these losses has been watching Brendon McCullum slowly go to pieces. The hard-hitting batsman has become almost a thing of the past, replaced by a player wearing an increasingly haunted look as his team stumbles from one nightmare to another.. For a player who scored heavily against India very recently, and a player who showcased a lot of maturity in each of the T20 and ODI innings that he played to slump to this low - out of the first ball, slapping short wide balls to fielders, dropping sitters, demoting himself to no.6 and reinstating himself at the top of the order..... He has tried everything but nothing has worked. That has probably hurt the most !! Well, don't we say captaining India and Indian teams is not that easy... :-)
McCullum's lack of captaincy experience has been shown up in this tournament. He might have made the offer to quit on grounds of accountability but it has perhaps led to an image of a weak captain and a sensitive man under stress.Well Mc Cullum. the team is surely not making it to the semis- when are you quitting ???
Will the press just slip in that question ?
JB may say the answer is to have Hodge captaining and 4 more aussies close to him to be a part of the team !!
Is Ganguly asking McCullum not to cry in the ground ?? (Ref: the 2nd picture)..
Even the old man in the ads told what was in store for us - "Ha Ha Ha,.... Is baar thum bee jeetoge !! " -- Very sarcastic, wasn't it ???
The Fake IPL player has rightly put it- he is waiting for a day when John Buchanan blames global warming for their team losses !!!
